Actually, it is a "printer/modem port."  Turn off Appletalk, restart the 
unit, start loading drivers.  Make sure that your internal modem is turned 
"off" in the control panel (if you have an internal in the unit).  Turn off 
Appletalk.  Also, you can try america offline to see if the modem is 
responding (yea, I know, AOL is the pits....but my account is paid for by the 
company and I'm cheap).    Did I mention to turn off Appletalk??  <<grin>>
