I felt I had to provide some update on my quest to have a Type IV battery working in my 280c, since many of you provided many suggestions. After I tried to reset the PowerManager with the adapter and the battery unplugged, it was suggested that I could try to force it reload its "code" from the system by resetting it, this time with the backup battery removed. So, yesterday evening, I did open, for the first time, this 280c, disconnected the backup battery, disconnected the adapter and also removed (!) the main battery. I did press the main switch on the back for over 30 seconds. I put everything back together and turned the Duo on. There was some delay, it seems, and then it started booting. Everything went well. But when I tried to have it started on the battery, it wouldn't start. When I tried to disconnect the adapter while turned on, it would shut off. So, I restarted and left the battery to recharge, but then, like it did before, after a while, it stopped recharging the battery, thinking it was fully charge. However, I still wasn't able to start on the battery. So, I think that this BTI (btw) battery was dead on arrival. Unless a new battery I have ordered yesterday that I should receive today prove the same. If so, then I guess I'll have to contact the seller of this Duo to ask him a few questions. If the 2nd new battery I'm supposed to receive today recharge and work fine, then I'll have to return the first one. And no, the second is not a BTI. I'll let you all know how it turns out. Thanks for your time and kind support! -Laurent. ============================================================ Laurent Daudelin <http://home.cox.rr.com/nemesys> Logiciels Nemesys Software mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
