Ok, most of you know my story. So, here I was, trying to work this morning
when Fedex delivered my second battery to test in my Duo.

I put it in the Duo immediately and waited to see. It started charging it.
So far, so good. But then, pretty much like the other new one, the BTI one,
about 40-50 minutes into charging, it decided it was charged enough. I did
shutdown, unplugged the adapter and anxiously pressed the power button.
Nothing. Plugged the adapter, booted the Duo. Once booted, disconnected the
adapter. Duo shut off. How disappointing! The exact same behavior I did
experience with the BTI battery. I was depressed, since it now looked like
the problem was with the Duo itself.

I pulled the battery, and had a look at the contacts, inside the Duo. They
seemed all fine, all in line. Then, I remembered someone on this list saying
that he had cleaned the contacts after having intermittent problems. So,
that gave me the idea, since all was lost, to try to bend the contacts a
bit, thinking they might have been loose.

So, I carefully inserted my screwdriver, and delicately bent all of them,
just a tiny bit.

I had shutdown and unplugged the Duo before trying that, so I tried
inserting the battery a last time. Locked it in. Pressed the power button.
And all of a sudden, against all odds, there was the little starting sound
so precious to our ears! The Duo was booting off the battery! Hooray! The
problem was finally solved, after one week of hope and despair! But the
final idea was someone from this list, I don't remember who exactly, but if
you recognize you, thank you very much! Since this light operation, my Duo
has been working fine so far.

Now, last question. I would try to charge my original BTI battery, the real
Type IV (the new one I received this morning is a Type III). I was supposed
to charge it for at least 10 hours when I got it. Naturally, with all the
problems I had, I was never able to give it what it needed. Since I've paid
over $100 for it, and since I've been issued an RMA number, what do you guys
think I should do? Return it to have a brand new one I could condition
properly, or keep this one and start using it?

Thanks all in advance!

-Laurent.
