OK, it seems that now that I've fixed my battery problem, I'm plagued by
another one.

I'm running 8.1 on my Duo 280c. For some reason, the hard disk is seen as
being off, even if it's on. Both the Apple control strip and the "Essential
PowerBook Strip" reports "hard disk is off", while it's spinning. I
shutdown. waited a few minutes, and restarted. Same thing, right after the
Finder loads. I tried rebooting with the 8.1 base set of extension, same
problem.

I also noticed earlier this evening that after about 5 minutes *after* the
screen is dimmed, that the Duo freezes. I have to force quit the Finder to
regain the cursor and the computer starts working. It seems that from then
on, every action on the screen, menu selection, windows opening, etc. is
kind of sluggish. With only 24MB of RAM, I also closely monitor the amount
of free RAM, and after the force quit, it seems that a few MB are wasted.

Does anybody ever experience something like this?

As always, thanks in advance!

-Laurent.
