I've posted last week my story with the problem that my Duo wasn't
recognizing the 2 batteries I've tried. One of them has been assigned a RMA
number. Then, after I discovered the problem, it was finally recognized, and
I could use it. My concerns were that the battery hasn't received the
initial charge of 10 hours. I did post to this list, and some people
suggested I give it a try. Which I did.

OK, now, I don't know what you can expect from a Type III or IV battery, but
my BTI battery gives me about 1 hour (estimated from the Apple's control
strip). I'm getting pretty much the same estimate for my other brand new
Type III battery.

Now, we all know that the estimates from Apple are probably a bit off, but
in real day to day life, is a one hour estimate roughly what you get from a
Type III-IV battery in a 280c? I'm always mentionning estimate, because I
didn't drain the battery completely so far. I could do so if you think it
would be useful.

If I should expect something better, than I will return the one which I was
issued an RMA for and will get a new one that I'll be able to give the
initial charge that is required.

Thanks for any input!

-Laurent.
