I am a member of a mailing list for Mercedes-benz owners (mostly older
cars, so they require a good bit of maintenance) and there is a very
humorous, and true quotation that I think is relevant here:

"There is nothing in the world that is more expensive than a cheap
Mercedes"

Swap the word Duo for Mercedes in the above quotation, and you have my
opinion on this issue. When I bought my 2300c, I waited and searched on
Ebay until I found a really good one. Already maxed on RAM, internal
14,400, great condition, good battery, all the parts, etc. I paid a little
more, but I haven't had to put another dime into it since it arrived on my
doorstep. So, essentially, my 'more expensive' duo has turned out to be
much cheaper than your cheap duo. Sure, I couldn't identify the display
power supply board, but then again, I don't want to... I think that most
power users and tinkerers would be happier with a fully functional and
well cared for duo, such that their dismantling of the machine ends with
removing the upper case plastics to add RAM and a bigger HD. (be careful
with those tabs on the front right-hand corner!!!!)
