Thanks Mad dog. I'm not, as far as I know, a Houdini with a soldering iron. What's LC and RC by the way? And are there such things as 68050 or 68060 chips, or did everything grind to a halt at 40 (where life begins!!)? I di have this idea for making a one foot cube a la NeXT Cube into which you could plug the Duo, a CD/DVD writer or whatever, a removeable Zip drive, extra graphics cards and decent loudspeaker, and all designed to cool by convection so you can get rid of the noisy fans. In the ned I plumpd for an 8inch cube a la NeX T(shrunk) wiht a removeable Zip and a CD, and decent loudspeaker, and stuck the Dock under the desk out of the way in a soundproof cupboard. So all the bits you want to access are on the desk, being quiet, and the rest is in the sound proof cupboard. If anyone wants drawings of what I did, let me know. nick >>all this talk of super-super-charging a 2300 makes me wonder if it's >>possible to simply swap the 68LC040 in my Duo 280 for a 68040 from a Quadra >>700 - slightly higher clock speed and an FPU. >> >>Is it? >> >>nick > >You bet...with ooonnneeeee small problem.
