Here, small is beautiful. Just this morning there was an article in the paper that PC sales are up 28% over last year in Japan. Desktop sales are up 25%, while laptops are up 32%. The category leading the charge is the sub-notebook (They call 'em B5 machines -- since they're the size of a B5 sheet of paper; normal sized notebooks are called A4's, again after the paper size.) These sub-notebooks are up 68% over the July - September period of last year. Quoting the article, "...B5-sized norebooks currently account for 20 percent of the notebook market and are expected to grow in popularity." Here's hoping Apple decides to cash in on this boom!
