I just tried an Astra 2200 SCSI/USB scanner with my Duo 2300 (OS 8.5)/Duo Dock II (w/ethernet & SCSI). While following their software loading instructions carefully the 2300 froze up. After doing a HW shutdown it wouldn't restart unless I turned extensions off (using the shift key while starting). After checking the scanner's ReadMe's & calling their Customer Service, I learned that this scanner does not support Duo Macs! Great package labeling! It took at least an hour to purge the inop software (which was embedded everywhere!) and figure which extensions needed to be turned off (like the control strip) before it would start normally again. Back to Fry's for a refund - OK. But no scanner yet. SCSI scanners (under about $125) seem to be pretty scarce. Anyone out there know of a SCSI scanner that definitely will work with the Duo 2300 running 8.5? I'm probably going to go for a PB G3 (400) one of these days so the scanner should also be USB compatible. If I strike out on this I just may step up the G3 buy.
