Goop doesn't seem to help, and the Duo is hard to open afterwards. Any
hints? <<grin>>

Actually, for those that like to hack, there is a difference in the drive
circuitry between the 270/280 and the 2300. The 2300 has the additional
circuitry to drive the 2300 screen (I have a sneaking suspicion that the unit
was originally designed to have a true multi-resolution screen, but it was
canned for cost reasons...1994 was the year of the great "Yen" debate and
high taxes against LCD screens). The 2300 screen uses part of that
circuitry, thus the reason the 2300 screen will not work on a 270/280. (My
best guess based on the chips on the logic boards)

Screen compatibility:

230-250 all interchangeable
270-280-280c all interchangeable
2300 screen only on the 2300
The 2300 logic will drive <<all>> Duo screens.

If someone has noted any screen that will not interchange, please let me know
to update my files. The only Duo I have not personally owned is a 270, but I
have friends that have put a 270 mono screen onto a 280c that had a shattered
display, worked fine. I did hear that there were <<two>> versions of the
270, thus the reason for wanting to hear of any incompatibilities.

Cheers;
Andrew
