>I never heard of a 270 (no color). I did put a 280 (BW) screen on a >270c, and it worked fine. There was a 270, though there weren't many sold. I nearly bought a used one once, but went for the 270c instead. It was essentially a 250 with an FPU, though I believe the connector layout is that of the 280. I'm not sure what the poster meant by two versions, unless that just means the 270 and 270c. >I also think, from apple manuals that the 250 screen can be used on a >280 if you change the video cable. Yup, the connectors are incompatible, but the screen hardware is otherwise the same. I'm not sure that it'd be worth trying to swap the cable when you could just buy a dead 280, though. On the off-topic subject of off-topic postings, I personally dislike them (and I read the list in digest format, where they're somewhat less annoying). Realise that any mailing list has a great many more members than it appears, but most lurk or only post when they have something useful to say (like me, hopefully). For those people the banter is only an annoyance and many will eventually quit, which cuts down on the list's diversity and impoverishes the actual on-topic discussions. I've been doing mailing lists for about a dozen years, and I've seen politer lists than this killed by lack of focus. The same applies to messages that are poorly quoted and untrimmed (especially when they're also off-topic). Banter is usually better addressed to the specific people you know - basically if you wouldn't *manually* address a message to a couple hundred people, knowing they're all reasonably likely to be interested, then don't do it automatically by sending it through the list server. -- Marc Sira | [EMAIL PROTECTED] "If you can't play with words, what good are they?" ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
