I have repaired two of my PB 2400 AC adapters by prying open the case with a
sharp screwdriver and then repairing the frayed cords with small wire nuts or
tape/solder. After reconnecting the wires I then put the cases back together
with glue and black electrician's tape. It doesn't look pretty, but what the
hey, the adapters are usually on the floor behind my desk out of sight and
permanently connected. They have now lasted me at least two years.
