Neil, the Type III cell is a 4/5ths "A" cell, the Sanyo part # is HR-AUL.
Check with some of the amateur radio clubs, there are several UK suppliers
for "repair paks" for the amateur radio hand-held units, and the same places
tend to sell the individual cells (make sure to get tabbed cells!!) Haven't
had a chance to open a Type I yet, but have one here I need to put "under the
knife."

I get 2.5 hrs solid usage with the 2150 mAh cells, and 2 hrs with the 1600
mAh cells (older version of the HR-AUL) on my 2300; this being with moderate
screen brightness and no slowdown of processor speed. YMMV.

Cheers;
Andrew
