The standard cures don't seem to be working (rested it three
days, did things with the power reset till my fingers nearly
fell off). The power reset is working like an on-off switch
for the green light: one short push turns it on, a second
turns it off. Turning off is accompanied by a small static
click from the speaker. I've tried resetting with both and
either battery, line.
What are my next moves? When do I know I need to send it to
MCE? It had a new motherboard from Soho in Vancouver in
August but in fact I think they sent it to DTT for the
board. It is out of warranty on that score. The machines are
not covered by Apple Canada for service but i'll be in LA
over Xmas and thought MCE would be close by.
Another important question is: does one power manager
failure mean it will keep happening? Or is it very
intermittant, like once every four years?
