The card mounts and shows up on my desktop using OS 9 and no mce 
cardbus activation.  Since iMovie isn't free anymore I haven't 
actually got to use the card which is ok since the card was only $35 
from outpost with shipping.  Hopefully apple will either make iMovie 
free again or I'll get another firewire device besides my camera.

Does the card itself show up on your desktop.  If it doesn't get 
TupleDumper and see if the machine at least "sees" that there is a 
card inside. I don't remember where I got tupledumper from but it's 
somewhere on apple's website.

My experience with usb hard disks was awful in terms of stability, 
performance and ease of use; hopefully firewire harddrives are 
better.  I'm still sticking with scsi.
