Hi Mark!

Well, I've just received this (monstrous!) PowerBook G3. I say monstrous
because my experience has been with Duos so far, so you can understand
my shock when I unwrapped this thing!

However, it's darn fast! Very nice screen too. The sound is very loud! I
turn it almost completely down and it's still loud here in the office.
It feels a bit more robust than the Duos, though. Came with 20x CD-ROM
drive, but no floppy, and only 32MB of RAM. Time to spend money!

It's also in a so-so shape. There are at least 2 screws missing from the
bottom case. As a result, I need to be careful when I take it, because I
feel it could break just between the expansion cage and the battery
cage, on the right edge. Do you know what screws could fit there? I'm
guessing Torx-8, but I'm not sure about the lenght. There seems to be a
piece of plastic that is broken around the expansion bay. However, when
a module is in, you can't see it. Screen hinges seem to be fine. The
ports door on the back can come out very easily. I thought it was
broken, but no, both hinges are there. However, one of them seems to be
slightly damaged. Will have to try to fix it up. Had Disk First Aid
inspect the internal hard disk and no problem reported.

Well, that's all for now. I'll send my comments whenever I have them.

-Laurent.
