Hello, I am new to the list and it's because I am having a big problem with my Duo 2300. Perhaps someone here can help? I bought a used Powerport Mercury modem and installed it into my Duo 2300, which was working ok (but slow, of course) with the Apple 14.4 Express modem. I got the following software and loaded it into my Duo: Global Village Toolbox Powerport for 500 & Duo 2.5.5 = extensions folder GlobalFax Powerport 2.5.5 for 500 & Duo 2.5.5 = extensions folder GlobalFax GX Powerport for 500 & Duo 2.5.5 = extensions folder Powerport for 500 & Duo 2.5.5 = control panels folder Powerport Tool for 500 & Duo 2.5.5 = extensions folder Are these all in the right places? There is a normal load during startup, except one of the Global Village extensions is "X-ed" out and the Duo freezes at the end of the load. My desktop background shows, but the mouse arrow won't move. I used Extensions manager to cancel out some of the stuff and loaded earlier versions of these items. when I double-click on the "Powerport for Duo" control panel, I get a window that says "The Powerport for Duo control panel was not properly initialized at startup. Make sure the Powerport for Duo control panel is in the Control panels folder [it is] and restart your powerbook." after restarting, I get a window which says "The Globalfax software has successfully installed. however, since no fax device control panels were loaded, faxing has been disabled." then: "The Powerport software attempted to install twice. Remove any duplicate Powerport control panels from the System, Extensions, or control panels folders and restart your powerbook." it's getting frustrating, I am tired of writing all this down. can any of you help me figure out what's wrong with this?
