I would bet that the Metricom card would work in non
cardbus PC card slot. There are just too many old
laptops out there. I was going to upgrade my Ricochet
modem, but the new 128k model is USB only for Macs. I
though about running a USB PC card, but I though it
would kill my battery life. Right now I get an hour
and fifteen minutes of battery life when running the
Ricochet modem. My only real complaint with the 2400
is the battery life.
