That looks like the route I'm gonna take. Thought I had a answer as I put
all of the USB system files in 8.6 and it actually worked 3 times in a row.
And then it didn't work at all. I had no problems with my firewire card,
but maybe I was just lucky.
Still, it seems that if I could just figure out what file is getting
corrupted on the subsequent restart I could just kludge together a script
to fix it all up when the system boots. . .
