In case anyone's interested, I thought I'd detail just what I have to go
thru to get Ricochet's modem to work thru a Macally PC card on my
non-cardbus enabled 2400.
For some reason this works better on 8.6 than 9.04 (which is fine by me.)
1. First plug in AC, remove any inserted PC cards
2. Replace the following system extensions with fresh copies of
EnetShimLib v1.4.6f12,
HID Library v1.4.6f12,
SerialShimLib v1.4.6f12,
USB Device Extension v1.4.6f12,
USB Mass Storage Extension v2.0.4,
USB Mass Storage Support v2.0.4,
USB Software Locator v1.4.6f12,
USB Support v1.4.6f12,
Ricochet USB modem file, and move Finder prefrence to trash
3. Zap Pram, trash files after restart
4. Rebuild all desktops
5. Don't restart. Load PC card with modem turned on after rebuild.
So far this has consistantly loaded the USB icon on the desktop w/o
crashing the finder. Some of it probably isn't necessary, but I just don't
feel like experimenting that much. That cardbus upgrade is looking better
and better, but I'm too cheap and hate to be w/o my 2400 for even a week. .
