2 gig IBM SCSI running off a standard doc, no problem. I have 7.5.3 loaded
on the internal HD, if I have an older Duo I can start off the doc drive.
Used a LCII sled, built my own power cable, std. 50 pin drive cable, and it
also contains backups of all my important software.

Several times. The 270C uses the same display as the 280C, and the 2300
logic will drive <<any>> Duo display. if you have a 280 or 280C logic
(identical), go ahead and upgrade to an '040. One trick if you have an older
case stiffner (the magnesium part which acts as a heatsink) is to get the
2300 "batwing" heatsink and use it to cool the '040 chip. More than enough
thermal mass to cool it! Otherwise, get some heatsink transfer foam (local
electronics distributor or radio shop) and use it to transfer the heat off
the CPU chip.
Good luck with the project!
Andrew
