My Duo Dock II has no plastic snaps, just metal ones which snap
the metal sled into place. The hard drive fits inside the sled, so nothing
on the side would obstruct it, and there seems to be about an inch or more
taken up bu the FD next to it. I haven't tried it, but I see no reason
that the space can't fit a half-height drive just to look at it.
