You can definitely surf the net - I use mine for that all the time.
Your's may already have a built in modem (it's behind the right foot
of the machine). It's only 14.4 - but if you get iCab as previously
and turn off the picture loading - its decent. You can also get an
ethernet dock that attaches to the back of the unit - they're pretty
pricey on ebay though. I am about to experiment with a cheaper SCSI
dock and a SCSI to ethernet adapter as soon as the parts come in...
I'll tell the group how that goes.
As for other things, it makes a great scheduler - if you can get a
copy of claris organizer - the light size makes it perfect. I have
all sorts of phone numbers and contact info in mine. They are also
great for taking notes - the 280c doesn't take up too much lap space.
