Aye, I agree with that. You hope with a purchase of a newer machine, you would not have to invest $$ to get it in ship-shape order. It was nice getting a Duo cheap, with the understanding it may cost $$ to get what I need out of it. It looks like the biggest issue with these older machines are the pram batteries and the main batteries being worn out and needing replacements. I was happy to get what I did out of the auction as a lot of times you see the 'books stripped down in some way for sale. For instance, ram has been removed, no AC adaptor, etc. It's kind of funny to see several posts in a row on eBay that you know was one machine that was parted out. Still, I've had enough good experiences on eBay to like it. Back to my original question... I am thinking a 3400 would be a nice "middle of the road" solution for me. Any opinions on this machine vs. others?
