Flip (rotate) the foot down on the back with the tiny phone icon on it. If
there is a phone jack there, it has a modem. If it's white, you have an
Apple 14.4 modem. If it's black, you have a Global Village PowerPort/Mercury
19.6 (I think that's .6).

You can hook up an external. Flip the other foot down with the tiny
printer/phone handset icon on it. Behind it is the combination printer/modem
port. If you plug a modem into it you must turn off AppleTalk. Then go to
your modem control panel and from the "Connect Via:" popup menu choose
"Printer-Modem port". Then select the appropriate modem from the setup list.
You may have to restart to get it to work after changing these settings.

The internal modem is painfully slow with the late model browsers (3 on up).
It does work quite nicely for email though. You might consider getting IE5
since it's the most recent. It worked very well on my 2300 as did Outlook
Express 5.

I sure your connection problem is not related to the browsers you have. You
need to focus on establishing a good internet connection first.
