As I understand it, they're not supposed to work with PowerMacs. But, it
seems there is always an exception to the rule. I used one with my Duo2300c
and it always functioned perfectly. I had it connected via the SCSI port on
a MiniDock. More often than not I hear reports from others that it works
with their 2300 also. I don't know why, but it usually works.
However, when I sold my 2300 and bought a PB1400, I tried using the Asante
adapter with it. No such luck. It would consistently lock the machine up. I
even installed an extension to slow down the SCSI but it didn't help. So
instead I bought a GV PCMCIA card for modem and ethernet.
Note also that the info you reference may have been written prior to the
construction of a PowerPC PowerBook. As Eric points out, everything they
make reference to are desktop machines.
