AOL is crap. And not cheap, as far as net access goes. If you want to hook your 280c 
to the net for cheap try a free service. You'll need to borrow access to sign up, or 
go to a webcafe. Search for free www, or look on lowendmac for info (especially for 
68k mac access). You can use your internal modem if you want to crawl, lol. Ebay 
frequnetly has 28.8 external modems for less than $20. when i go online with my 2300 
from home, i always use a 33.6 external. 14.4 is just too painful.
