It sounds like you have a Type I battery. The sliding clip or top is just
slightly different than the Type II & III batteries and they don't quite
line up correctly. I'm not sure which model of Duo made the transition to
the latter types of batteries.

I have some dead Type I & III batteries at home in a drawer. I'll have to
compare the sliding & locking fixtures on them more closely tonight. They
are in the protective sleeves for storing them when not in use so I'll also
look at the mating surfaces to see how they compare. I know that I have
tried to slip a Type I battery into a Type III sleeve (and vise-versa) and
they are not completely compatible.

I'll let you know what I find but it will be later tonight, unless someone
else con comment on the differences.
