Dave,

What type of security do you need? When you are away from your desk? TO
keep someone from deleting files? To keep them from starting up the
machine when you are not there?

You might be able to use a screen saver if you are the only one that uses
the machine. If you password protect it, you can keep people from snooping
on your computer when you are away from your desk.

If the computer is there and turned off when you are at home, then you
could format the HD with Silverlining or some other third-party formatter
that will allow you to put a password on it. Double check the archives if
you have upgraded the HD in the 2300. I know that Apple's Powerbook
security control panel had a bug (I think) that manifested itself if the
HD was larger than 4GB or something like that. I don't think that it is a
hardware bug, so I think that it wouldn't be problem for a third-party
piece of software.

Just some thoughts. I know that there used to be a program called
"FileGuard" for the mac that provided security for your files, too.
