I was surprised a while back when I found out I was able to install OS8.6
from a System CD that came with a B&W G3 tower. I installed it onto my
PB1400 without a problem. Of course I could not boot from it though.
It would be worth a try if your iMacs came with an install CD (as opposed to
a restore). Either it will work or it won't. Give it a try. BTW I wouldn't
try to copy the system folder. Once installed it's usually specific to the
machine it is on.
