SCSI Disk Mode is lost with HD over 4GB due to inherent problems in
Apple's ROMs. I've heard of folks limited a hard partition to 4GB or
less and using Disk Mode, but have never heard a definitive answer on
whether that really bypasses the problem.

>3. What is the maximum/optimum drive height for a HD to be used in the Comet?

12.5mm is the correct height. The 9.5mm drives work, but there has
been some expressed that they don't make sufficient contact for heat
reduction, i.e., some shimming may be appropriate. Easier to just
buy a 12.5mm Hitachi or similar.
