It's not mainly a cardbus problem for the road rocket - it looks for a
piece of hardware which is only present in the G3 powerbooks, and so even
2400s with Cardbus can't use it...

When MCE do their Cardbus enabling, they also do something to this harware
detection process, allowing use of the card...
