You have a G3 in your 2400, and Gauge Pro is reporting the temperature from the CPU's internal temperature register (as the dialog indicates). The CSM is reporting the internal temperature from the Power Manager, which gets it from a thermistor on the logic board or CPU board (probably the latter) - near, but not within the CPU itself. The CPU core is hotter than the larger area around it, and both readings are thus accurate. Since any piece of software that reports temperature is getting the reading straight from the hardware, it's not possible for the application software to screw it up and checking other software is pointless. If you have a regular 603e (which has no temperature sensor of its own) Gauge Pro will indicate "not applicable" for the CPU core. If you're asking which reading is more relevant, the answer is "neither". It's not really a very important factor unless you're noticing problems (crashes or hangs) when your 2400 does a lot of CPU-intensive work. The point at which it could cause long-term damage is well beyond the point where it would simply crash, so it's generally not worth worrying about unless it gets really excessive. 63C/145F is where my stock 2400 is running right now, and most of the time. -- Marc Sira | [EMAIL PROTECTED] "If you can't play with words, what good are they?" ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
