I really think the big docks are a thing of the past.
If Apple does anything, it will probably be a
replicator like the PCs. There's just too many
external drives out there to create something like
the old duo docks. Besides, I think Apple's trying to
get out of the hardware business except their
computers. They seem to be giving the peripheral
markets to 3rd parties (i.e. harman kardon, lucent,
etc.).
