Morning again.
Recap of thread re 2400 connection to ISP via cellphone using infrared.
Up front, thanks to everyone who replied.
Seems to me that listers have not had much luck with either Ericsson
or Motorola. (Lots of success infra-redding palms and G3s to
cellphones though.)
Some suggestion that is it to do with the older version of IrDA
supported on the 14/24/34xx series. (IrDA1.0 rather than the newer
IrDA 1.1).
- Anyone know of a workaround?
- Anyone played around with these or is this hardware dependent?
As for the Nokias, DeltaSigma confirms success with Nokia 8290, Jay
with an 8250. I quote, "No special software required, just set the
Modem control
panel to Infrared port and the script to Nokia Infrared".
- I myself do not have the Infra-red port appearing in the modem
Control Panel list, nor have a Nokia Script available.
Can either of the above comment?
- Jay, what did you mean by "on the same two devices"?
Am myself attempting to sort this all out for international tri-band
access, so have not here summarised any of the thread regarding
particular cellphone service providers in the US. Though note the
comment from Jay regarding his achieving best success with the GSM
standard.
