I believe that the "16" is because it supports 16-bit ('thousands of
colors') on the video. The "sc" is for SCSI. And... The "e" is for
ethernet.
As far as connecting to an iMac, if it's just going to be the two of them,
then you need an ethernet crossover cable. You could get one at CompUSA or
such, but I've found that (for cables and those little black jumpers you
lose when you change IDs on internal SCSI drives, etc.) the little
hole-in-the-wall computer place (you know, the guys that roll their own
Wintel PCs) usually has a bin full of these cables, and of varying lengths,
and often much cheaper than the big stores.
