OK, I'm getting a little wiser.

Probably the fact I'm not getting online with my ex-German Duo230 has
something to do with the fact that the serial-port-to-phone-line-connector
piece (part D826-1556-A) looks country specific (maybe that's what the
additional big D in the bottom right hand corner of its product label
means).

The Duo also came with the German phone-jack-in-the-wall-to-connector-piece
cable attached, and under closer inspection I see that both the connector
and the cable it came with have SIX little metal contacts, while though the
Italian phone jack fits right into the connector piece, the Italian phone
jack only has FOUR metal contacts. Might this be where the big mystery
lies??

Since the ExpressModem software seems to be working, would anybody know
where to get the Italy-specific connector-piece?

Otherwise: since I've found a SupraFaxModem 288 lying around here - does
that work with the Duo230 (that has the internal Express Modem installed)?
What software/setup do I need?

As always, much obliged,

Philip R.
