Ok I've poked around long enough to figure out how to do the ABD mod
for the trackpad. (Thanks to Peter for his web site for basic info)
For this trackpad/ADB modification, I choose to junk the 14.4K modem
(it's too slow anyway since I've got a 56K external ;-))

I used the power on PCB, the blank version you get in your Duo if you
have no modem installed. From there, pin 3 of the modem port is
ground, pin 8 is +5v, and pin 47 is Keyscan line for the power on
operation. Finally, ADB can only be pulled through a Dock port, pin
83.

I hacked the power on PCB and added a spare ADB port (ripped off a Mac
IIci that died) so not only can I use a Trackpad on any non PPC Duos,
but I can also use any ADB devices w/o having to use a dock of any
kind.

The pinout of the ADB port itself can be obtained from most sources
but here:

The larger notch is at top, and 2 smaller notches are at the bottom.
You may want to use a multimeter to verify the location of the pins to
ground before you rip out the old ADB port from an old Mac or
keyboard.

1 is ADB, 2 is the Power On ket (short to GND to activate), 3 is
+5vdc, and 4 is GND.
