I've been following this thread but I'm not sure if I can help. I did want
to mention that I have a PB1400 that connected to DSL through a GV PowerPort
Platinum Pro combo modem/ethernet card. I was running OS8.6 at the time and
had no problem connecting.

However I have an old PPC7100 set up as a router using IPNRouter. This has
work without a problem for almost a year now. I have a fixed IP address.

I had to manually configure my TCP/IP control panel which was not a big
deal. Just out of curiosity, did you set the TCP/IP control panel options
for always on. With a dialup connection it would be set to load only as
needed.

Not sure what else to offer.
