In my office, I link my PB 2400 (stock 180 MHz CPU, maxed 80 MB RAM,) to the 
desktop G4 (2nd generation, 400 MHz/AGP/256 MB/20 GB/SCSI through PCI 
card/MacOS 9.0.4,) by means of SCSI disk mode. I've encountered 0.00 
problems. If your 2400's HD doesn't exceed the magic 4.x GB max, that's what 
I'd suggest, though YMMV. HTH
