Yes, I have a BTI battery and a Type 3, both charge fine in the Apple charger.

You may want to check the Duo-Faq. The address escapes me right now, but
I'm sure that Yahoo can help you there...

Well, for Duos and 2400's, it is definitely a decent portion of the cost!.
However, deals can be found. I'm wary of Batteries sold on their own,
unless very cheap. (Then you can justify having them rebuilt!) The apple
chargers shouldn't cost much at all. And it snaps right onto the standard
AC Adapter.
