Check eBay....there is someone selling new keyboards for around $30-$40

It is NOT a 5300 or a Compaq Armada!!  <<grin>> Dead batts will cause the 
problems described.  Rebuilding the battery is a challange, but I've done it 
several times, as have others on the list.  Think makmac has a website with 
details on rebuilding batteries (or gionpeters??).  Ensure all connections 
are good, etc.  Also, the unit may be going to sleep instead of shutting 
down...I assume you know the difference? (always better to ask!)
