OS 7.5.3 and up (including 7.5.5) has all the needed drivers to correctly use
Type 2 and 3 batteries on older Duos.  You are OK on this one.

A few hours or so if it's empty.  Plug the battery in your Duo and see how
much charge are there in the indicator.  If it's nearly full, it may be just a
few minutes or so to finish charging it.
