Let's put it this way: basically what I did was UPGRADE the 280c with a PPC 
motherboard (2300), which is a recognized upgrade for that machine. All you need to do 
is swap out the motherboard, you use the EXISTING 280c screen cable. Which I did. 
It shoulddddd work.
Perhaps it is a bad video cable, and in taking the duo apart I somehow knocked it to 
its bad state?
Does anyone have a good screen cable>?
(i suppose these are hard to find.....)
