Dollars to donuts you've got the cable a bit "off."  Disconnect the cable, 
give it a good look to make certain there are no foreign objects (note....NOT 
talking about Brandy ;>) inside the connector housing.  Make certain the 
connector is centered on the mating connector and that it is snug.  I also 
tend to pop off the PRAM battery while messing with it, reconnecting it at 
time of restart.  This should give you a clean restart.  

There are two types of 2300 logics.....mine and yours.  <<grin>>  All have 
the same connectors, etc. installed.   The different rev levels seem to be 
housekeeping updates only, no major changes AFAIK.
