One other thing about printer drivers.... when installing older
versions of drivers on newer machines or newer revs of the OS, we
often see the Chooser gets replaced with an older version of the
same. And this will cause all manner of problems upon restart. Some
don't manifest themselves until you try to print, some won't let the
box boot with extensions enabled. Very ugly. The older installers
were not always developed clean -- and don't always sniff to test for
version -- the overwrite occurs without the users knowledge and
mischief ensues.
On the other hand, Brandy's little shop of horrors method of repair
does have its place. Certainly, we'd like to send some of our more
troublesome cases to her :)
