Easy enough to do: I'm thinking of using a second dock case JUST for
power with a cable running between the two -- since they already stack
so neatly, and are so cheaply available.

More than enough depth: perhaps 3/8" toward the hard drive, but nothing
toward the rear side; the bulkhead that mounts the motor drive is
jammed-up and jelly-tight against it. You should probably plan to move
the hard drive toward the lock-side, making more room.

50 pin scsi with three connectors [for both a scsi-1 hard drive and cd].
a fourth connector for a terminator. all ordinary stuff purchasable at
any pc parts place or online.
The more challenging aspect is powering the 3 devices [including term] from
the single supply connector without draining [sagging the regulation on]
the supply.
Adapting the power cable is standard 'drive cable extender' stuff from the
pc world.
Terming the channel is a somewhat complex process. Check out
<http://www.scsischool.com/> for a brief medium-depth presentation of the
issues.
