Machine is a 2400/180, 1.3G/48M
Currently machine is retired.
Any help resurrecting would be appreciated.
Symptom:
Regular freezing in whatever application happened to be running.
Freezes after about five minutes, or sooner if I look away.
Unable to force quit anything.
Reset button usually ineffective at first.
Repeated GLOD-like resuscitation procedures required most often.
When not frozen seems a perfectly healthy machine.
Attempted the usual first aid, including starting up without
extensions, replacing the System and Finder with clean copies kept
stuffed for this very purpose (something I can recommend), starting
up from original CD, etc.
Have put the machine through diagnostic tools (DiskFirstAid, Norton,
TechTool) but nothing found by any of them.
Have reinitialized the Hard Drive, loaded a clean system...and still freezes.
Only positive note:
When attempting to back up with machine in SCSI disk mode it did not
freeze before I'd completed the transfer - about half an hour.
Plan initially is to open it up, check both RAM seated correctly and
replace the PRAM battery. Then if that doesn't do anything, it's time
to make an appointment with the doctor (but hoping to avoid that as
they seem to all be in the US and I am on the opposite side of the
Atlantic.)
Any ideas beyond this? Recognize the symptoms? Power Manager? In-Out
board? Motherboard?
Regards to all,
Marc
