I've been using iCab Preview 2.4 for a couple of weeks now with my docked
230, 32 MB RAM running System 7.5.5. It's worked fairly well for me, and
seems to be a fair bit quicker than Netscape 4.08, although it has frozen
once or twice in a few weeks' time. The only drawback is that it cannot
access secure (https) pages without having URL Access installed. My
understanding is that URL Access only works with OS 8.5 or 8.6 and higher,
which leaves me having to rely on Netscape any time want to access a secure
page. Does anyone know of a workaround for 68k users running System 7 to
use iCab for https?
As far as using a docked 230 for web browsing in general, obviously using
the 14.4 Express Modem for dial-up access leaves a lot to be desired. Would
browsing be acceptable on my 230 if I had cable or DSL access through the
Dock's ethernet hookup? Or is there an unavoidable slowdown from the '030
processor's speed (or lack thereof)? Is cable or DSL on a docked 230 even
feasible? Thanks in advance.

Chris McCarthy
