I get the impression that 7.6 and 8.1 are optimum for the 2300c (and 280/280c for that matter); the former is slightly more snappy, the latter a little smoother (and it has "sticky menus" which are a godsend with a trackpad or trackball).>> You don't need to be running OS8 to get sticky menus.
